Smashing Pumpkins-inspired '1979' Art Print

I'd been stuck on '1979' for a long time, since it's one of my favourite Smashing Pumpkins songs, a feeling apparently shared by millions of other people. And the music video imagery was never far from my mind, it's just such a successful synaesthetic evocation of the song. When I eventually buckled down to concentrate on it, I looked for something that would cover the teenage experience of yesteryear (since that's the narrative that pulp covers offer, and also what the song is about). The more I considered this one, the more I liked it: by using a diptych panel, it covers the positive (flirting with the cute guy/girl, and all of the future promise that teases) and the negative (busted by the cops, and the threat of a ruined future that threatens). I also liked how the cop side could be supported by 'Shakedown', the first word of the song -- although almost any lyric from the song could be slotted in here perfectly.
