Next to 'Forever Young' (see my poster for that too), 'Big In Japan' was a big hit for new wave band Alphaville, and it was the rage in the mid-80s. It was inspired by the real-life story of a punk rock bank from the UK with that name, and from the more general idea developed in the 80s that it was possible for a band to achieve massive success in Japan but nowhere else - it's come to refer to niche, odd, and inexplicable success in random markets (a meaning cemented by its use in 'Spinal Tap' to refer to the Japanese success of 'Sex Farm'). Pay, and I'll sleep by your side, indeed!
The retro, vintage pulp paperback cover I chose for this is a silly, literal take on cleavage, ha-ha, but it retains the Japanese setting - the original is part of a series about this well-endowed secret agent.
